Our Community

We are a small rural decile 8 primary school located in the Lower Mataura Valley in Southland and celebrate over 120 years of education within the district. We are the small school with a big heart, which is shown in our staff and children. Our students have many wonderful learning experiences in all aspects of the school curriculum. We have an attractive and well maintained school with extensive grounds and facilities.

Our community is friendly, warm and encouraging. We work closely with the Lower Mataura Valley Kahui Ako which involves Wyndham, Edendale, Gorge Road, Tokanui, Tuturau schools and Menzies College.

Our families are actively involved with the school and wider community. We support the local Glenham community with the Glenham Trainwreck which is held every January.

As part of our learning we have opportunities outside the classroom with biannual whole school camps, and Ski trips. We are a Bronze accredited Enviro School.

Glenelgin, our farm based learning environment was awarded the Southland Environment Awards in 2017. Continued learning and development of a nursery will ensure that our environmental studies and the development of this area are a part of our school curriculum now and into the future.

Our school gardens are in their developing stages and we plan to produce a 'garden to table' programme.
